Hundreds raise thousands in the RG Falla Quarter Marathon

‘RG Falla is the main contractor on the new Les Bourgs Hospice and we have been privileged to see firsthand just how important this facility will be to the community. We're delighted that we have managed to raise so much money for this very worthwhile charity and want to thank everyone who took on the challenge for helping us do that.'

As well as organising the event, RG Falla also provides prizes to the fastest male and female runners and the fastest team. Colin Jefferies was the fastest male crossing the line in 37 minutes and 55 seconds, Kerry Robin was the fastest female finishing in 43 minutes and 28 seconds and Jimmy de Garis is Cool won the fastest team prize with a collective time for the four members of two hours, 36 minutes and 10 seconds.

Les Bourgs director of nursing Jo Boyd said the money raised through the RG Falla Quarter Marathon was invaluable as it aims to raise the £4m. needed to fund the construction and fit-out of a purpose-built hospice which includes seven ground-floor single ensuite bedrooms, a lounge for family gatherings and a new day hospice. There will also be an outpatient consulting room, central nurses' station and office, a chapel and landscaped gardens. It never ceases to amaze me the efforts that people go to to raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice. The support that Les Bourgs Hospice has from the local community is superb and we wouldn't be able to complete this much-needed facility and continue to run it without that,' she said.
